Pool repair in Chandler Arizona

A weekly service customer of mine who lives in Chandler Arizona required a pool repair last week, because the pump had a bad leak. The pump body (the volute) cracked and while it was running, sprayed water and flooded the equipment area.

It's a variable speed pump that is several years old. The plastic pump body was severely UV damaged from the sun and became brittle. Pumps expand when they turn on and are under pressure, and contract when they stop. Thats what caused the stress crack.

I had to take the pump completely apart to replace the volute. While it was apart, there was a bunch of broken and worn parts. The diffuser was broken in two pieces, the impeller ring was worn away completely, and the impeller had worn down. Since the LCD display and the drive unit was still functioning properly, I replaced the cracked volute, the shaft seal, the impeller, the impeller ring, the diffuser and all the rubber seals.

It was about half the price of a replacement pump and should run well for another several years
